Sid joined the club in 1994 after attending an Open Event at in the 80’s; finding it such a great place to sail he became a full member in 1995.  He started sailing in his teens in Birmingham in his first boat, a flat pack stitch and glue Mirror. In the 70’s moving to Scotland, he travelled to take part in various Open and National sailing events, racing Merlin Rockets, Lasers and OK’s.  Based at Strathclyde Loch, he helped set up the sailing club there.

He had to move on from sailing dinghies when his knees gave up, and his first big boat, was a Hunter 19 ‘Beano’, after that ‘Maggie May’, now he sails a Hunter Sonata ‘Anmetoo’ with Michael; with such a passion for sailing he is always happy to share it.  Supporting the Ocean Youth Trust to sail to St Kilda in a 72ft was a great experience. Cruising the Greek islands on his friend’s boat, 42ft ‘Mariposa’, tackling an overnight passage to Crete, lets him soak up the sunshine in the sunny Med.

Sid is the rep for the keelboat fleet.
