Social Sailing

Whilst the main focus of LLSC is to be out racing regularly, members are often seen on the water doing some training or tinkering with their boats, taking friends and family for a cruise or jumping on other boats to have a go.

The location of the club puts us in a prime spot to set off on a cruise in company and enjoy the beautiful anchorages in amongst the islands. Cruising days are planned as part of our program to encourage friends and families to set sail for an adventure. Day trips include picnics on the beaches at Port Ban or Inchmoan, wallaby hunting on Inchconnachan, ice cream at Luss or Balmaha or simply rafting up in the island anchorages with a bit of swimming involved. For those able to, the restaurant on Inchmurrin or Rowardennan Hotel make good watering holes, both of which can be accessed from the water’s edge.

For the more adventurous, camping on an island is also an option, but please do check the National Park byelaws first, as camping is strictly controlled on the shoreline and some of the islands are private. No matter what the adventure, please always leave the location as clean and tidy as you would like to find it.

Family Week

One of the social highlights of the year, dates are decided by all the families as to which week in the summer holidays they will reside at LLSC. Families are often extended with additional friends and camping on site is allowed. Whilst this week sometimes incorporates some training in the mornings, there are different sailing destinations each day, a lot of picnics, BBQs and evening events throughout the week. Highlights may include the Opening Night Pimms Party, Movie Nights, Treasure Hunts, Greasy Pole Competition, Pancake Breakfasts, Bingo Nights and many a wine, cheese and toasted marshmallow consumed. This is one not to miss!
